Pastor Tyler J. Prude

Pastor Tyler J. Prude, the son of the late T. J. Prude and Alice D. Prude-Jackson, was born on October 19, 1956 in Kankakee, Illinois. Rev. Prude confessed hope in Christ at an early age under the leadership of Pastor James M. Smith. While attending Second Baptist Church, Rev. Prude taught Sunday School, served in the following ministries: Junior Usher, Choir, Trustee, Director of the Baptist Training Union, and a sponsor for the Truth Seekers Youth Fellowship.


A resident of Kankakee for 52 years, he attended Franklin Elementary School, West Junior High School and Westview Senior High School. After graduation Rev. Prude attended Kankakee Community College, Olivet Nazarene University and received a B.A. from Governors State University.

Reverend Prude was licensed to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ on January 28, 1990. In January of 1991 Rev. Prude was appointed Assistant Pastor of Second Baptist and was ordained on June 9, 1991. He was called to the pastorate at Second Baptist on October 9, 1994. In 1996 Second Baptist under Pastor Prudeís leadership Second Baptist broke ground and constructed a new Sanctuary which was completed in June of 1997.


A man of vision Pastor Prude developed Beyond the Four Walls Ministry (BFW). A 501c-3 non-for-profit corporation. Several ministries were developed: The Heavenly Boutique (a clothing give-away store); Heavenly Treats (candy store); Heavenly Care (nursery home ministry).

Ministries being developed: Educational and Technology wing; Elderly Housing Development; Community and Economic Development, Pastor Prude continues to reside in Kankakee with his wife Evelyn and three daughters : Sabrina, Tyra and Taylor.


Employment Experience:

Pastor Prude served as Assistant Director of the City Of Kankakee Community & Economic Development Agency from 1977 to 1987. He served as Executive Director of the Kankakee County Housing Authority from 1987 to 1998 retiring to become full-time Pastor.

Co-Executive Director of Project Turn-Around of Kankakee (a faith-based Adopt-a-school organization)

Vice-President of Kankakee County Renewed Opportunity (A prisoner re-entry program)

Executive Director of Beyond The Four Walls Ministries (Second Baptist Non-profit)

Moderator of the Kankakee County Baptist District Association

Instructor for Baptist General Congress of Christian Education

Board Member of Success By Six

Board Member of the Biblical Exposition Conference

Board member of Mount Carmel Ministries (MCM) A Biblical Counseling Organization.
